Elsie Hosier
June 05, 2013
Elsie Hosier was born July 22, 1917, in Paris, Arkansas, to George and Lamanda Sizemore, and passed from earth to her Heavenly Home on June 5, 2013.
She married James B. Hosier in 1936, and together they ministered on a radio broadcast for 12 years as well as pastoring various churches. Elsie worked for the Polk County Welfare Dept. as Accounting Supervisor until retirement. She co-pastored Central Bible Church for over 25 years with Jeanne Wilson. She started her ministry for the Lord as a teenager, traveling around the state of Arkansas to hold VBS at many churches. She had many musical talents. Besides singing she played several instruments including piano, saxophone, guitar, mandolin, cymbals, accordion, and violin.
Her greatest ministry was being there for others, through their hard times and happy times. She was always concerned that they knew Jesus as Lord and Savior and she would see them in Heaven someday.
Elsie will be remembered by daughters, Vanita (Frank) Gallo and Angela Wrucke; grandchildren, Brandt Faatz, Brenda Faatz, Jane Kizlauskas, Michael Wrucke, Kimberly Steele, David Wrucke, and Sean Wrucke; great-grandchildren, Brandon Wrucke and his sisters, Kristin and Heather Wrucke, Joel, Daniel, and Micah Steele, Chandler Faatz Carter, Emilia and Eva Wrucke; as well as her two faithful friends who were there so many times to play Skip-bo and enjoy a Cappuccino, her sister-in-law, Jeanne Hosier, and friend Ramona Huss; and many, many other friends. She was “Mom” to a long-time friend, Dale “Turkey” Hedlund. She was preceded in death by her husband, Reverend James Hosier, and her daughter, Juanita Kizlauskas.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, June 8, 2013, at Central Bible Church, 2430 Guthrie Avenue, followed by burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., Friday at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to her church.

I have known Elsie for over 36 years when our three daughters were going to Central Bible Church with their Grandma, Mildred Baker. Elsie and Jeanne encouraged me to go to church summer camp with our girls. It was August 11, 1977 and that was the summer I remember sitting at a picnic table with Elsie, Jeanne and Mil Baker, Elsie meticulously presented the Word of God to me in a simple and understandable way and told me about receiving the Baptism of the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking with other tongues. I was so fascinated and intrigued by what she was saying that I wanted more. That evening I asked Jesus into my heart and life and received the Baptism of the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking with other tongues. Elsie and Jeanne were overjoyed with enthusiasm to nurture and bring me along in the Lord.
My husband, Topper and our three daughters Latisha, Shauntal and Shayla attended Central Bible Church for many, many years after that. We were all five baptized in the church and we attended church every time the doors were opened. We enjoyed many Sunday evening services with Elsie enthusiastically playing Jericho Road on the piano and we were marching around the outer perimeter of the sanctuary singing along. I remember Elsie playing many other songs while our three little girls stood up on the platform and sang their little hearts out to the Lord in our worship time. I remember our Wednesday evening Bible studies where Elsie led the teaching and I learned and soaked up God's precious Word because Elsie presented it to me in a very straight forward and understandable way. Every lesson Elsie brought is still ingrained in my spirit and I will always carry her teachings in my heart.
I remember our Easter Services every year when Topper would surprise Jeanne & Elsie with a beautiful corsage and we would have wonderful Easter morning breakfasts together and then go into the sanctuary and hear a wonderful sermon from Jeanne and Elsie would play the piano and the choir would present an Easter celebration of Christ's Resurrection. What glorious, wonderful days those were and I shall always carry many, many memories of Elsie. The wonderful Woman of God that she was and the many times of fun and fellowship we shared with her were the basis of my walk with Christ that is still continuing to this day and will continue until my last breath.
I will always carry a soft spot in my heart for you, Elsie. I love you and cherish the wonderful memories that you have been a part of all these 36 years. I will meet you in the morning over there. I know that you will be waiting for me along with Jeanne, Mil Baker, Ed Baker, Mil Carlson, Faye Curl, Ed Brooks, Ilot Ackelson, Bill Christian, our daughter Tish, your daughter Juanita and Brother James and countless others whom you have touched and are responsible for their presence in heaven. I love you forever and always. Until we meet again and rejoice around the throne, rest in peace my beloved friend.

What can I add about a dear and beloved friend that my wife hasn't already said. I too have nothing but loving fond memories of Elsie. Her dear friendship and guidance in the Lord in my early years of walking with Jesus cannot be compared to anything. Her always smiling face and loving spirit will always be remembered. Her and Jeanne were solely responsible for my coming to the Lord for strength, help, salvation and peace of mind. When the going got tough in my life, Elsie was always there with uplifting advice, loving guidance and concern, and most important, her prayers for myself and my family. I truly loved Elsie and Jeanne and have missed their constant presence in my life in the last few years because of the great distance in our location from Iowa, but though a long distance in miles, never separated from my heart in love for them.
Elsie, you will be greatly missed, my friend, but I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that I will see you on the other side and I know that you will be there to greet me when I too some day will pass from here to there. I have nothing but the dearest memories of Central Bible and my years there, and will always remember Elsie playing the piano, all those wonderful old hymns that today seem to have been replaced with lyrics on the wall and most of them with no real meaning like the old hymns. I have now walked with Jesus many years thanks to Elsie and Jeanne, but I can honestly say that my most precious memories in that walk were the ones generated at Central Bible, the warmest of fellowship there, the times of candy sacking, the early morning breakfasts at church before service, the Wednesday night Bible studies led by Elsie, the privilege of being asked to serve on the Board of Central Bible, and so many other sweet memories, too many to mention.
Dear friend, you are loved by me, but I know you are in a far better place that I long to be and I would not wish you back to this old world for anything, because I know that you are with our beloved Lord and Savior and some day we will all join you, your friends one by one, to celebrate with you in a land that I can't even imagine how beautiful it will be. We will all be together then and will never be separated again. Love always, your friend and admirer, Topper Baker

Love you all and miss hearing her play that old piano at CBC but rejoice in knowing that she is with her Lord and old friends and family gathered round singing praises to the KING.
