Leona B. Shaeffer

Leona Bernice Shaeffer, 88, died June 3, 2013. Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, June 12, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, with burial following at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be an hour prior to the service.

Leona was born June 27, 1924, in Albert Lea, Minnesota, to Leo and Bernice Swehla. She was a high school graduate and worked many years at Tones. Leona was very proud to be a member and being active in the Women’s Shrine Auxiliary. She enjoyed camping, crafts, crocheting, knitting and lived life to the fullest.


Leona is survived by her children, Roxanne Morton of Des Moines and Terry (Audrey) Shaeffer of Arizona; grandchildren, Tina, Rhonda, Susan, Amber, Aaron, and fifteen great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Harold "Skip" Shaeffer.
