Robert Wessel, 71, passed away at his home Sunday, June 2, 2013.
Robert was born August 21, 1941, in Des Moines, to Eugene and Orlena (Pryne) Wessel. He retired from the City of Des Moines Parks & Recreation Department after several years of service.
Robert is survived by his children, Roger (Kim) Wessel, Rodney (Jeannie) Wessel, Misty (Ray) Jones, and Bobbie Jo (Zack) Wessel; step-children, Tina (Mike) Carnine, Scott (Heather) Ashley, and Mary (Shon) Ashley; companion, Grace Gelts; his step-mother; brothers, Gene, Ted and Joe; sisters, Connie, Grace, Kathy, Becky, Anna, and Pat; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, father, a brother; and a son.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m., Thursday, June 6, 2013, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, with visitation two hours prior to the service Thursday, at the funeral home.

When someone we love becomes a memory, that memory becomes a wonderful treasure to always hold in your heart. Misty thinking of you today and everyday,think of this perhaps they are not the stars, but rather openings in Heaven where the love of our lost ones pours through and shines down upon us to let us know they are happy.
