Arthur Carlson

Arthur Carlson, 89 died July 13, 2007 at Wesley Acres in Des Moines. He was born July 27, 1917, in Des Moines, IA. His parents Eric and Elfreda, were Swedish immigrants, who met and married in Iowa.
Art graduated from East High school in 1935, and served as Secretary to that alumni class. He worked for the U.S. Postal service for many years, then later for Banker’s Trust. He was a 50 year member of the Auburn Lodge, and of the ZaGaZig Shrine, Bowlers unit.
Art enjoyed fishing, visiting with family and friends, and playing with his grand children. He is survived by his two devoted sons, David and Daniel (Tena Gaskill), both of Des Moines, his brother, Astor, two grandchildren, three great- grandchildren, and his best friend Helen Mallory. He was a member of Highland Park Lutheran Church.
Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday July 17, 2007, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 N.W. 60th Avenue in Des Moines. Burial will take place in Highland Memory Gardens cemetery. The family will be present for visitation from 5 to 7 pm. Monday, at the funeral home.
The family hopes that those who remember Art will meditate on the richness of life and be thankful for it. They hope that they will strive to treat others as they wish to be treated, and to be happy.
