Service Details
Lee M. Waldorf of Mitchellville, died May 28, 2013. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, May 30, 2013, at Hamilton’s Mitchellville Funeral Home, 303 Center Avenue S. Services will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, May 31, at Mitchellville Christian Church, 210 3rd Street NW.
Lee was the son of Viva and Harry Waldorf. After graduation from Mitchellville High School, Lee joined the US Navy and served in the South Pacific during World War II. He was then married to his wife Wilma for over 64 years and raised their family in Mitchellville. Lee worked as a meat cutter in the central Iowa area. He served as a member of the Mitchellville Fire Department for 30 years. Lee was also a member of American Legion Post 155 and the Mitchellville Christian Church. Lee enjoyed spending time with his family and taking care of his dogs.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by infant son, Rodger; infant sister, Alice; and brother, Gene. Lee is survived by his wife, Wilma; three sons, Phil (Dana), Paul (Cheryl), and Pat (Karen); daughter-in-law, Paula; eight grandchildren; Cara, Krista, Dustin, Jack, Lauren, Mike, Andrea, and Austin; along with five great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made to the Mitchellville Fire Department or the Mitchellville Christian Church.

Lee was a great guy, I chatted with him almost daily as I made my ups deliveries and he was walking his dog, God speed my friend, I offer my condolences to his family.

My condolences to the the Waldorf family. He was a great guy! I met Lee while working part-time at J&Ks while in high school. It was Pat that made me want to give back to the community by serving on the Fire Dept. and I see that it came naturally, by following in Lee footsteps. Again, sorry for you loss and my prayers go out to the family.
