Warren "Pete" Yakish

Warren “Pete” Yakish, 80, of Des Moines, passed away Friday, July 13, 2007 at the Carlisle Care Center. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 16 at 10:00 AM at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th, with burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery with military honors. Visitation with the family present will be held Sunday from 5:00 until 7:00 at the Funeral Home.
Pete graduated from Lincoln High School and proudly went to serve his country in the US Navy in the Pacific during WWII. Pete retired from Park Avenue Plumbing, the company his father started and his son now operates. He was a proud member of Plumber’s and Pipe Fitter’s Local 33. Pete was dedicated to his work and his client families. He enjoyed collecting Coca-Cola memorabilia and accumulated a large collection.
Pete is survived by his wife Jean; son, Terry (Barbara); step-son, Don Van Ginkel; granddaughter, Annie; great-granddaughter, Allison; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Musezetta; brother, LeRoy; sister, Helen Koons; step-daughter, Marla Perry; step-grandsons, Scott and Todd Krogmeier.
