Service Details

Donna was born November 12, 1936, in Weldon, IA, to Ralph O. and A. Ardell (Robins) Boggs. Donna married James Louis Sage June 19, 1955, in Osceola Iowa. Donna and James lived for a short time in Long Beach California while James served in the U.S. Navy. Following discharge from the service the couple moved back to Iowa to live on the Southside of Des Moines, where they raised their family. Donna worked in retail at various places in Des Moines and retired in 2001. She continued to work part time at Fiserv until her death.

Donna’s granddaughters fondly recall that this amazing woman never once complained. She supported her family until her very last breath. She was taken too early, but we can rest easy because she is with her sons and her very best friend, Ruby. She was so strong and had a hard fight, God knew her pain and called her home. Grandma Donna was a confidant and never broke a pinky promise. She never missed a ballgame or dance recital, she was the best grandmother ever and such a blessing to our family.

Donna is preceded in death by her parents, her mother- and father -in-law, E. Ralph and Francis Sage; her brother Larry; sons, James Brent Sage and Bruce Alan Sage; and sister-in-law, Dorothy (Sage) Headman.

Donna is survived by her husband James, daughter Gail Sage (Bill Pence), daughter-in-law Debra (Weirather) Sage, grandchildren James Cody Sage and Jamie Sage, son Bradley Sage (Deb Johann), grandchildren Brady Sage, Molly Sage, Amanda Kirchhoff, Allison Kirchhoff (Cadence, Elli, Wesson), Bryce Speirs, sisters Barbara Klingston and Sherry (Dwaine) May, sister-in-law Helen Boggs, brothers-in-law Gary (Alta) Sage, Russell (Janet) Sage, Charles Sage, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Family will greet friends at 12 noon until 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 25, 2013, at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. A funeral service will begin at the funeral home at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
