Genevieve “Nadine” (Hecker) Ennis, 86, passed away at her home Sunday, May 19, 2013. She was born September 22, 1926, in St. Edward, Nebraska, the daughter of Verne and Christine Case.

Nadine will be remembered by her heart of gold; she was such a giving and loving person who would do anything for anybody. She was truly a “people person,” and to know her was to love her. Nadine enjoyed crocheting and spending time with her family. Above all else, she treasured the special moments with her beloved grandchildren as they were her pride and joy.

Nadine is survived by her children, Leland (Kathy) Hecker, Jr., Genevieve Pearson, Brad (Deb) Hecker, Verne (Cathy) Hecker, Ruth (Dan) Shelton, and Michelle (Shannon) Hecker; grandchildren, Johnny Hecker, Mindy Rogers, Chris Pearson, Mike Pearson, Dan Hecker, Scott Hecker, Shannon Woods, Verne Hecker, Ashley Hecker, Tamara Charbonneau, Melissa Quinn, Adam Hecker, Larry Shelton, Laura Dillon, Crystal Wissert, Tim Hecker, and Toby Ann; 26 great-grandchildren; brothers, Sam (Jane) Case, Charlie (Dee) Case, Jerry Case, and Mickey Case; sisters, Jean (Clinton) Gates, Norma Case, and Jane (Galen) Schoening; and many other loving relatives and special friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Leland Hecker, Sr., and Cliff Ennis; son, Larry Hecker; son-in-law, Dennis Pearson; her grandsons, David Hecker and Ben Shelton; and her siblings, June Case, Bob Case, Jim Case, Freddie Case, Don Case, Elizabeth “Betty” Vlademar, Eleanor “Cookie” Johnson, and Ann Emigh.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, May 24, 2013, at Adventure Life Church, 1700 8th Street SW in Altoona, followed by burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, at the church.
