Rodney C. Losh, 70, died Friday May 17, 2013, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center from cancer. He was born May 2, 1943, to Armond and Vesta Losh in Mason City.

Rod graduated from Mason City High School and got his interest in business while working in the family bakery. He earned his BA in Accounting from Drake University and married his high school sweetheart, Judith Griffith, in 1965.

Rod was a long-time resident of Altoona, where he was on the Altoona Zoning Board and helped develop the Altoona Soccer Club. He was an active member of Altoona United Methodist Church and the Computer Users Club.

Rod retired from Des Moines Flying Service where he was a controller for many years. He was an avid sports fan, following the Hawkeyes (though he supported all Iowa teams), Vikings, and Twins.

Rod and Judy moved to Waukee in 2010 to be closer to their grandchildren. One of Rod’s favorite things was attending their many activities.

Rod is survived by his wife of 48 years, Judy; sons, Michael (Anne) of Rochester Hills, MI, Brian of West Des Moines, and Garrett (Jill) of Urbandale; daughter-in-law, Melissa Losh; grandchildren, Maura, Griffith, Haley, Aiden, Devin, Carter, Claire, Morgan, Adam, Maeve, Zachary, and Kate; sister-in-law, Betty Losh; and a host of other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Tracy Losh.

Funeral services will be 10: 30 a.m., Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at Altoona United Methodist Church, 602 5th Avenue SW, Altoona, with burial to follow at Altoona Cemetery. Visitation will be held 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday, at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th Street SW.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Altoona United Methodist Church or UnityPoint Hospice (formerly Iowa Health Hospice).
