Service Details
Velma Helouise Davis, 74, passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at her home in Ankeny. She was born February 5, 1939, in Des Moines to Jesse and Edith (Holmes) Bowman.
Velma is survived by her daughter, Vicki Davis; sons, Darrell (Vicki) Davis and Ted (Mary) Davis; grandchildren, Kale Davis, Garrett Davis, Torrie Burton and Ashlan Burton; great-granddaughters, Mylee and Laney Davis; brother, Jim Bowman; sisters, Jane Thomas and Mary Blile; other loving relatives and many special friends. She was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters.
Funeral services will 12 p.m. Saturday, May 18, 2013 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, with burial following at Pine Hill Cemetery. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Contributions may be made to the family to establish a memorial in loving memory of Velma.

I was so sorry to hear about the death of Velma. I was visiting family in Arkansas at the time. I am so sorry I missed her service. Velma and I shared some good times together when we attended the Brethren in Christ Church. I loved her laugh. She was an inspiration to all she met. She always had a happy smile. She loved her children and was a great mother. Vicki, Darrell, and Ted, I know you will miss her greatly, but know that she is enjoying the blessings of Heaven and is in the Lord's presence. May God continue to bring you comfort in the days ahead.
