Albert “Speck” Simmons, 89, passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at Kavanagh on 56th Street. Per his request, his body has been cremated and no services are planned at this time.
Albert was born October 31, 1923, in North English, Iowa. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Albert worked for Baker Electric his entire career as a superintendent, and was a member of IBEW Local 347 for over 60 years. He was cherished by his family and friends and was an outstanding mentor to many. He will be deeply missed by all.
Albert is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Kathryn; children, Trudy (Tom) Dolezal and Tracy (Janis) Simmons; daughter-in-law, Sherry Simmons; grandchildren, Ty, Tadd, Terra, Connor, Claire, and Max; five great-grandchildren; sister, Kathryn Agold; brother, Don Simmons; and many extended relatives and beloved friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Terry, and three siblings.

We will always have pleasant memories of Speck and horses. Happy times at Owen and Ruth's, Bortell Ranch, trail rides and feasting.

Kate and family...just want you to know how much I admired Speck. He truly was one of a kind. He always had such a great smile and was always interested in what was going on. He will be greatly missed.

Speck helped me a good deal while getting started as an electrician at Baker Electric. He was respected by all. The customers loved him. Best wishes to his family.

My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. Mr. Simmons was the cornerstone of a family that was always so wonderful to me. I can remember his kind and cheerful smile as easily as if it were yesterday, and I know how much he'll be missed. Love.

Our kids grew up with Speck and Kate's children and we all know the Simmons family. They are great parents and good friends and a pleasure to know, and we're so sorry for their loss. Heartfelt condolences to Kate and the kids from all of us. Phil Brown and family.

Speck was an outstanding fellow employee and great friend. His family should be extreemly proud of his life and accomplishments. He is truly one of the individules that built Baker Electric.
