Ronald Nims

Ronald M. Nims was born on July 6, 1938 in Fayette County, Iowa to Arlene Kamaus Nims and Melvin Nims. He died on May 13, 2013 at Iowa Methodist Hospital after a short illness.

Ron graduated from Fayette High School and was a proud Upper Iowa University graduate. He came to Des Moines and went to work as a CPA with Fogg, Nims and Company, where he spent his entire career. Ron loved his family, clients, job and farms. He was a very proud Iowa farm boy and was a good steward of his land; he enjoyed being out on the farm.

Ron is survived by his wife, Virginia Sucich; his mother, Arlene Nims of Fayette; son, Craig Nims of Adel; daughters, Rebecca (Dave) Merritt of Grimes, Stephanie (Brian) Main of Johnston, Stacey (Scott) Hurst of Ankeny; step-sons, Paul (Mary) Sucich of Clive, Christopher Sucich of Bozeman, MT; 9 grandchildren, Matthew Merritt, Jessica, Taylor and Jacob Main, Morghan and Mason Hurst, Daniel, Emilie and Grace Sucich; brother, Eugene Nims of Grayslake, IL; and his former spouse and mother of his children, Donna Nims of Ankeny.

Services will be held at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines, IA with visitation on Thursday, May 16, 2013 from 6 to 8 p.m. and the funeral service on Friday, May 17 at 2 p.m.
