Ken Robert Peterson

Kenneth “Ken” Robert Peterson, 69, passed away Saturday, May 11, 2013, at the VA Hospital in Des Moines.

Ken was born February 27, 1944, in Emmetsburg, Iowa, to Jack and Gladys Peterson. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy and most recently worked as a salesman for Menard’s. Ken enjoyed watching sports, especially baseball and football, and was an avid Marilyn Monroe fan.

Ken is survived by his sisters, Dorothy Zimmer of Fort Dodge, Iowa, and Shirley Barnes of Des Moines; brother, Maynard (Mary Lou) Peterson of Johnston, Iowa; sister-in-law, Mary Jane Peterson of Des Moines; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Geraldine Vogel and Joan Vitolo; and his brothers, John Wayne and Keith Peterson.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street. Kenneth will be laid to rest at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter at a later date.
