Annette Murnan

Annette Elna Miller Murnan died on Sunday, May 12, 2013, in Nevada, IA. A private family service will be held at a later date with inurnment, at Princeville Cemetery in Princeville, Illinois.

Mrs. Murnan was born in Kewanee, Illinois, where she was reared and educated. She married Lee Murnan in June 1947, lived in Princeville, Illinois, for five years, and then returned to Kewanee with her husband and family. She moved to Nevada, Iowa, in November of 1985, to Ankeny in November of 1990, living the last eight years at Rolling Green Village in Nevada.

A journalist, Mrs. Murnan was employed 34 years by Lee Enterprises at its daily newspaper the Star-Courier in Kewanee prior to retirement. In Iowa she had done free-lance work for the Nevada Journal, Ames Tribune, and the Lincoln Highway Days committee, and worked for Ankeny Today as a staff writer for five years.

Surviving are a daughter Marilee M. (Doug) Verstraete, a son Joseph F. Murnan; two granddaughters Allison V. (Justin) Bielenberg and Darcy V. Lopez; and three great-grandchildren, all of Des Moines, IA. She was preceded in death by her husband (Leland) in 1967, and an infant daughter, Leanne.

Memorials may be directed to a charity of the donor’s choice.
