Bobbie "Bob" Simmer
April 29, 2013
Bob Simmer, 63, passed away Sunday, April 28, 2013, at Mercy Medical Center from a massive stroke. He was born January 20, 1950, in Jefferson, to Leo and Ethel Simmer.
He met the love of his life, Kelly after a blind date and married six months later. They were married for 31 years.
Bob, Bobbie “Dog Bite” loved and lived life to the fullest. He was a true believer in his Savior Jesus Christ and looked forward to being in His loving presence. He also looked forward to reuniting with his loved ones in Heaven. Bob is the newest greeter at the Pearly Gates.
Bob loved to be outdoors hunting and golfing, but his true love was his family. He was known as “the baby whisperer,” and was never seen without a baby in his arms. He is still touching lives even after his death by being an organ donor for the Organ Donor Network. Bob always felt that he was so lucky to have such a huge loving family...but we were the lucky ones.
Bob is survived by his wife, Kelly; daughter, Shelly (Jay) Willis; sons, Shawn (Theresa), Shane, Joshua (Tyke), Justin (Mary Elizabeth), Tyler, and Jordan; 14 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; sisters, Joyce Flanders, Connie Simmer, and Sandra Lantz; brothers, Dean, Gene, Jack, Larry (Peg), and George “Mike” (Peggy); sister-in-law, Sue; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Dennis.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Friday, May 3, 2013, at Christ the King Church, with burial following at Elm Grove Cemetery. A visitation will be held at church Thursday, May 2, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., with a rosary recited at 8 p.m.
Memorials contributions will be directed by the family.

Kelly, I'm so shocked and sorry to be reading this! Bob was such a special man and I remember all the good times we had together in Martensdale. When you came out to our farm and Bob and the boys got to go fishing or the swimming parties together at your pool. :)
We will keep you and the boys in our prayers.
Even though it has been many years and we have drifted apart, if you would like, I would love to see you or just talk and it looks like we could share some grandchildren stories.
Love Jackie
