Edith M. Coll

Edith Mae Coll, 87, passed away Sunday, April 28, 2013, at Mercy Medical Center.
Edith was born January 1, 1926, in Des Moines, to Lester and Mabel (Talbot) Bell. She taught preschool for nine years at Bidwell Riverside. She retired in 1987 from CDS where she had worked for 10 years. Edith was the longest standing member at Simpson United Methodist Church. She enjoyed bowling and social functions with the Young at Heart from Iowa Power. Edith also designed and made wedding cakes for family and friends.
Edith is survived by her daughters, Irene (Duane) Wachter and Sue (John) Maxwell; sister, M. Irene Evans; nine grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard T. Coll; son, Roy Coll; her parents; and brother, Frank Bell.
Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m., Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, followed by burial at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home.

Who would have thought the day I met you and Pete It would have started a 26 year friendship.You have been the best neighbors a girl could ever ask for.I can't begin to express how much I will miss you. I find comfort in knowing your together again with Pete. Thank you for all the years of memories you have given me, I will hold them close to my heart.God speed dear friend.

Aunt Edith was always very nice and easy to talk too. We enjoyed our visits with her. She will be greatly missed.
