Service Details
Geraldine O. McKay, 96, passed away on April 21, 2013 at Kavanagh House on 56th. Visitation will be held Thursday, April 25, 2013 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway, West Des Moines. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 1385 Buffalo Rd in West Des Moines.
Geraldine was born on September 29, 1916 in Des Moines to Floyd and Myrtle Dixon. She graduated from North High School. Geraldine was a devoted mother, wife and homemaker. She enjoyed reading, writing poetry, playing the piano and her children.
She is survived by her children, Leonna Clayburn, George McKay, Mickie Baker, Michael McKay, Wiley McKay, Angela Lewis, Christine Jordan, and Ramona Moore; brother, James Dixon; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren; and other relatives and friends. Geraldine was preceded in death by her husband, George; and daughters, Mildred Henderson and Constance Jones.

I will miss both George and Geraldine, though I only knew them briefly from 1992-3. I miss the friends in Des Moines often. But we will all be reunited soon.

Geraldine & George both set a fine example in the congregation as Christian parents as well as faithful servants of Jehovah. Geraldine was always a source of encouragement to me through the years. She's run her race faithfully and one of many we look forward to seeing again in Paradise. Our thought & prayers are with the family.

We lost mom this past week too. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family. Out losses are temporary as we know they have endured to the end. As long as we keep close to Jehovah we will see them again. Love, Brent and family.
