Sandra "Sandi" Cullen

Sandra “Sandi” Cullen, 64, passed away from a short courageous battle with cancer on April 20, 2013, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. Sandi was born May 31, 1948, in Fort Madison Iowa. She was then married to Tom Cullen November 25, 1968. Being the wife of a Navy man, they made their home in many different places across the U.S., but settled in Altoona, Iowa.

Sandi worked in the banking and insurance industries for many years, but she recently returned to her love of being a hair stylist. Sandi spent her free time doing yard work, reading, and antiquing. She loved animals, but most of all she loved spending time with her family and friends.

Sandi is survived by her daughters, Tonya Cullen and Ashley (Jim) Miller; grandchildren, Rylea, T.J., and Lexi Miller; many brothers, sisters, brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law; and nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Sandi will also be missed by many dear friends.

A special thank you to her dear friend and sister-in-law, Ellen.

Preceding her in death was her husband, Tom; her mother, Bessie June; her brother, Richard H. Moreland II; her mother- and father-in-law, Bill and Juanita Cullen; her brothers-in-law, John and Steve Cullen; and her sister-in-law, Jane Cullen.

Funeral services will be Friday, April 26, at 11:00 a.m., at Hamilton’s Altoona, 105 4th Street SW, Altoona, with burial at Altoona Cemetery. Friends may visit with family two hours prior to the service.
