Madeline Cross

On Friday, April 19, 2013, Madeline M. Cross, 86 years old, joined her husband, Donald Cross, who had preceded her in death in December of 2012.

Services will be held on Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue. There will be a visitation from 1 to 2 p.m., followed immediately by funeral services at 2 p.m. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Madeline was born February 3, 1927, in Unionville, Iowa, to Ray and Birdine Howard. She married Donald L. Cross April 30, 1945. She is lovingly remembered by her sons, Jerry (LeeAnne) of Tarpon Springs, FL, Danny of Ankeny, and Mark (Cheryl) of Hollister, MO; six grandchildren, Joshua, Casey, Travis, Amanda (Stephen) Jones, Shannah (Justin) Shry, and Danielle (John) Finley; five great-grandchildren, Barrett, Noella, and Bennett Jones, and Claire and Lucy Shry; brother, Billy Howard and sister, Jean Cannon, both of Des Moines; and sister, Helen Aiello of Indianola. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Darlene, and great-grandson, Braden Michael.

Madeline worked at Cornell Elementary School, and did volunteer work at Iowa Lutheran Hospital for 17 years. She was also a member of First Baptist Church in Centerville, Iowa.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to the Union Park Health Services Memorial Fund in loving memory of Madeline.
