Kathleen Burris passed away surrounded by her loved ones on Tuesday, April 16, 2013, at Bright Kavanagh House in Des Moines. Kathleen was born on March 13, 1946, in Buck Grove, Iowa, to LaVern and Josephine Goetzinger.
Kathleen was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Defiance. She attended grade school at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic School and graduated from Manilla High School in 1964. She married Robert Eugene Burris on July 13, 1964, and to this union were born two sons, Terry and Travis. Kathleen enjoyed the outdoors, traveling, and watching her grandchildren play sports. She also loved the penny slots at Prarie Meadows and having coffee with her girlfriends.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Saturday, April 20, 2013, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street. Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines. Family will greet friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 19, at the funeral home.
Those left to cherish Kathleen’s memory are her husband of 48 years, Robert; her children, Terry (Suzi) of Indianola, IA, and Travis (Angie) of Eudora, KS.; grandchildren, Amanda, Jake, Sydney, Cassie, Kirsten, and Jaiden; great-grandson, Owen; and other loving family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Linda Warner and Cheryl Musich; and brothers, Ronald and Richard Goetzinger.

I'm sorry for the passing of a very loving person. She made very one feel like they were her best friend. I will miss my Aunt Kathy but hopefully I will also be one of Gods children to see her in Heaven. I love you all.

Bob and family, sorry to hear of Kathy passing. She was a good first cousin,friend and neighbor when we were growing up on the farms. We will all remember her as a great person, with good memories. Take care.

So sorry to hear about your mother's passing. She was always full of life and high spirited at the girl's softball games. Known as "Grandma" to many; she will be greatly missed.

Hi Burris family,
Our prayers are with you during this difficult time. We always loved seeing Kathy at the ball field. NOTHING made her happier than watching her grandkids play ball. Bob, Terry, Suzi, Jake, Kirsten and Cassie--please now that I am praying for you folks right now. I so much enjoyed talking to Kathy at the softball games. I will have wonderful memories of how we would talk about softball strategy and offer "coaching" to anyone that would listen to us!! I know she loved that game and loved to watch your two beautiful granddaughters play the game. I will miss her this summer, but know that she will be cheering the Indianola Softball Team on to VICTORY!! God Bless all of you!!

Uncle Bob, Terry, Travis & families, We have been keeping up on the last couple of weeks--know that our hearts have been with you all of the way. You have lost a "rock" in your family as we did, but the memories are many to keep. I always looked forward the the BIG hug and beautiful smile that came from Aunt Kathy everytime we saw her and the laugh you knew from a room away. A wonderful person and she deserves to be at rest and pain free. We will definately miss her as you will, but are so blessed to have been a part of her family. Love to you all
