Shawna Lynn Smith was born on June 22, 1982, and was called home to her Lord and Savior on April 12, 2013.
Shawna will be remembered as a very special, kind, and generous person. She was compassionate to all, especially to homeless animals. She devoted her life to her friends and family. She dedicated herself to the Lord on Easter Sunday.
Those left behind to cherish Shawna are her parents, Joe and Janice Keller and Denny and Stephanie Barnett; grandparents, Bernie Keller and John (Shirley) Phillips; siblings, Mark Keller, Annie (Aaron) Kinkade and Katie Barnett; and a host of extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Clyde Keller, and grandparents, Clifford and Evelyn Barnett.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 20, 2013, at Hamilton’s Southtown, 5400 SW 9th Street. Family will greet friends on Friday, April 19, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Shawna Lynn Smith Memorial Fund at any Bank of the West location.

Shawna was a very dear friend. she had a smile that could light up a room, it could bring brightness to the darkest of gloom. She had such passion and love for family and friend, for them there is nothing she wouldn't do to defend. It is in her memory that we honor and keep her. She will always be in my heart and on that you can depend.

Footprints in the Sand
One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord.
Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.
In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand.
Sometimes there were two sets of footprints,
other times there were one set of footprints.
This bothered me because I noticed
that during the low periods of my life,
when I was suffering from
anguish, sorrow or defeat,
I could see only one set of footprints.
So I said to the Lord,
"You promised me Lord,
that if I followed you,
you would walk with me always.
But I have noticed that during
the most trying periods of my life
there have only been one
set of footprints in the sand.
Why, when I needed you most,
you have not been there for me?"
The Lord replied,
"The times when you have
seen only one set of footprints,
is when I carried you."
