Shari Lynn Tarbell, 53, passed away at her home in Overland Park, Kansas, on Monday, April 15, 2013.

Shari was born June 6, 1959, to James and Bonnie Hyler in Des Moines. She graduated from East High School in 1977, where she was a member of the EHS Steppers. She enjoyed crafts, painting ceramics, puzzle books, and word find books. While living in Des Moines, Shari volunteered at Grandview Park Baptist Church as a Sunday school teacher for 2- and 3-year-olds and was also a volunteer with Awanas. After moving to Kansas, she volunteered with the school lunch program. Shari loved watching her boys participate in baseball and other sports and was an all around supporter of youth sports.

Shari is survived by her loving husband, Kim Tarbell of Overland Park, Kansas; sons, Nathaniel Tarbell of Altoona, and Joshua and Samuel Tarbell, both of Overland Park, Kansas; father, James Hyler, Sr.; brother, James Hyler, Jr., of Des Moines; sister, Debbie (Ed) Chandler of Runnells, Iowa; mother-in-law, Olive Jean Tarbell, brother-in-law, Darl (Greta) Tarbell, and sister-in-law, Robin (Jim) Thomas, all of Centerville, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, Bonnie Hyler, and father-in-law, Ivyl Tarbell.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 20, 2013, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, followed by burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home.
