Carmon Kirby Doyle, 92 of West Des Moines, IA, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at Mercy Hospital in West Des Moines. Visitation will be on Thursday, April 18, 2013 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway at 3601 Westown Parkway, West Des Moines, IA. Funeral Services will be on Friday, April 19 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church 1230 Merle Hay Rd. Des Moines, IA with Father Mark Neal officiating. Graveside services will be held at Waukee Cemetery.

Carmon Kirby Doyle was born in Brantford, Ontario Canada,to Michael Doyle and Laura Doyle on May 19, 1920. Kirby married Frances Abraham on August 20, 1949 and began a family in Paris, Ontario Canada, where they both lived and worked. Kirby worked for Massey Ferguson for 38 years where he began working as a tradesman and moved up into management, specializing in time study for manufacturing. While in Canada, Kirby and Frances started a family. Together they have five children; Graeme, Gregory, Leo, Mary (Phillips), and Paul. In 1966 Kirby was offered an opportunity to move to Des Moines, IA with Massey Ferguson to set up the company’s Midwest corporate headquarters on Bell Ave. in Des Moines. In 1966 Kirby, Fran and all 5 children moved from Paris, Ontario Canada to make a new home in Windsor Heights, IA,where they lived for 44 years before moving to Edgewater Retirement Community. As a young man Kirby enjoyed playing hockey and golf. He continued to be involved with both sports throughout his life. He played, coached and refereed hockey as all of his 4 boys were involved in the sport as well. In 1999, Kirby was inducted into the ISU Cyclone Hockey Hall Of Fame. Kirby also greatly enjoyed the game of golf. He was an avid golfer, involved with the Massey golf league and followed it faithfully on TV.Kirby also enjoyed music, especially big band music. He actually met Frances at a ballroom dance before they were married. He often spoke about attending the big band events that included Guy Lumbardo, Louie Armstrong and Nat King Cole. After Kirby retired from Massey, he and Frances spent many winters in Panama City Beach, FL where they enjoyed the weather, friends, occasional golf games, and playing Bridge and Euchre with their snow-bird friends. Kirby was loved dearly by his family and will be remembered for his legacy of a loving husband, dedicated, hard-working Dad, and fun-loving grandfather.

Kirby is survived by his wife, Frances of 63 years, his 5 children and their spouses, his brother Terry, 3 sisters, Pat, Kathleen, and Fran all of Ontario, Canada. He is also survived by numerous other relatives including 19 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, Michael and a grandchild Samuel Doyle.
