Anthony R. "Tony" Donato

Tony (Tut) Donato, 89, passed away Friday, April 12, 2013, after a long battle with Alzheimers. A visitation will be held Monday, April 15, 2013, at 9:30 a.m., at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, followed by a celebration of life mass at 11:00 a.m.

Tony was born November 11, 1923, and raised in Des Moines and lived here all of his life. He attended St. Anthony’s Church and School and was a graduate of Dowling High School. He retired from WHO-TV where he worked for many years.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary Donato; children, Dave (Kelly) Donato of Prole, IA, Joe Donato of San Francisco, CA, Rose (Kevin) Boyle of Winterset, IA; and five wonderful grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Angelina Donato; brothers, Lutz and Vic Donato; and sister, Rose Grandanette.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Greater Iowa Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association.
