Helen Connet

Helen Connet, 90, passed away April 12, 2013, at Mercy Hospice in Johnston, Iowa. She was born November 2, 1922, in Bound Brook, New Jersey, to Sam and Anastasia Danchik.

Helen grew up in Middlesex, New Jersey, where she was a member of Our Lady of Mount Virgin Catholic Church and was a volunteer at Somerset Hospital. She retired from Knickerbocker Toy Company after many years of dedicated service.

Helen moved to Des Moines in 1995 and was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, where she enjoyed helping with their annual garage sales. She was a volunteer at the Kavanagh House in Des Moines and also at Bishop Drumm as an advocate.

Helen is survived by her children, William (Margaret) Connet of Des Moines and Jane Connet of Arlington, MA; grandchildren, Daniel Connet, Andrew Connet, and Samuel Connet; as well as nieces and nephews. Helen was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William; brothers, John and George Danchik; and sisters, Mary Valet and Annie Danchik.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, April 17, at All Saints Catholic Church, 650 NE 52nd Avenue in Des Moines. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, with a 7:30 p.m. Vigil service, at the church.
