Service Details

Tim went home to be with the Lord Friday, April 12, 2013 at Mercy Hospital, leaving behind memories of a life that was used to serve the Lord and brighten the lives of countless people.

Timothy Wayne Tidwell was born August 27, 1973 in Hammond, Indiana, arriving one minute before twin brother, Jimmy. Tim was the oldest of five and remained close to his siblings throughout his life. Nicknamed "Peanut" by his mother, Tim showed his love for life and people in big ways.

Upon graduation from high school, Tim moved to Des Moines, Iowa to be near his grandmother and enjoyed the life and relationships he built in the central Iowa area. Tim loved working with people and enjoyed being able to help those who had difficulties. Working as a residential counselor, Tim assisted those who had challenges and did so with a smile and genuine concern for his consumers.

Tim met the love of his life, April Humburg, in 2000 and the couple wed in Mason City on June 18, 2005. Tim’s love for his wife was evident as he ensured she was cared for in every possible way.

Tim was saved as a child and re-committed his life to Christ at 19. Anyone who met Tim could see the joy and love he had for his Savior, no matter the circumstances. Always willing to serve in whatever capacity needed, Tim was an active member of Altoona Regular Baptist Church (A.R.B.C.) and enjoyed working in children’s clubs, being a part of his Sunday School class, and lending a cheerful attitude and helping hand wherever needed. Tim's favorite verse was Romans 8:28 and he would often remind people that "God is good - always."

Having a desire to learn more and grow in the wisdom of the Lord, Tim could often be found reading his Bible and loved to share of his love for the Lord with others. Wanting to continue his education, Tim took classes at Faith Baptist Bible College in Ankeny, Iowa and enjoyed the Bible and Counseling classes.

Tim was a friend to many and blessed everyone with his quick wit, encouraging words, and his cheerful laugh. Tim loved his family and enjoyed spending as much time as he could with each and every one of them. He was loved by his many nieces and nephews. The special bond Tim shared with his grandmother was one that he cherished deeply.

Anyone who met Tim quickly learned of his interest in baseball and his unending support for the Chicago Cubs. Tim’s most recent project was training his new puppy – Wrigley.

Tim was preceded in death by his cousin Kris and his Aunt Bopie. Those left behind to remember Tim include his wife, April Tidwell; mother, Debbie Naughton; step father Michael Naughton; Grandmother, Diana Hoffman; twin brother Jimmy Tidwell; sisters, Melissa Mitchell, Angela (John) Collins, Crystal Rodriguez; aunt, Dana (Andrea) Smith (Merrillville, IN); cousins, Maria Silvas, Desiree Pagan (Hammond, IN); in-laws Ray and Gloria Humburg (Clear Lake,IA); brother and sister-in-laws; many nieces and nephews, and countless friends.

Friends may greet the family Tuesday, April 16 from 5:30 to 7p.m. at Altoona Regular Baptist church with the service taking place immediately after. Light refreshments will be provided following the service. Memorials in Tim's memory may be directed to the Deacon’s Care Fund at A.R.B.C., to help those in need - a cause Tim was passionate about.
