Kathleen Bottorff, 93, passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at Fountain West Care Center in West Des Moines.
Kathleen was born April 10, 1919, in Sigourney, Iowa, to Goldie May (Bartlow) and Harry Albert Butler. She was a member of Grandview Park Baptist Church. Kathleen volunteered for the March of Dimes and the Iowa Lung Association.
Kathleen is survived by her son, Phillip Bottorff (Donna); grandchildren, Eric Paul Bottorff (Mollie) and Stacey Ranae Bottorff-Terrill (Aaron); and great-grandchildren, Jackson, Jace and Mallory Bottorff and Alexandria, Braiden, and Cooper Terrill.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Claude Bottorff; brother, Gene; and infant son, Paul.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Friday, April 12, 2013, at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street, Des Moines. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, April 13, at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Sigourney, Iowa.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice of Central Iowa in loving memory of Kathleen.

Dear Phil and Donna, Kathleen was a gracious lady who greeted each day as a new beginning. She inspired us with her indomitable spirit and positive outlook. To Kathleen's Family:
I am a Drake pharmacy student and I visited Kathleen on a weekly basis this past semester. I truly cherished the time I was able to spend with her these past few months and I know we were both a gift to each other. I feel so blessed to have been a part of her final days. She was such a sweetheart and always so thankful that I was there to read to her. You are a wonderful, loving family and she told me many times how much you all meant to her. My prayers are with you.

Phil and Donna,
It is so hard to loose a parent. Your mom had such a love for life and always wanted to take part in all the activities. She loved her family and I know she will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
