Edward LeRoy “Joe” Major, 81, passed away Sunday, April 7, 2013, at Mercy Medical Center.
Joe was born July 9, 1931, in Monroe County, Iowa, to Roy and Hazel Major. He was a U.S. Navy veteran.
Joe is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Phyllis; daughters, Susan (John) Ellis and Marsha (Mike) Horner; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; his brother, Lloyd Major; and his sister, Eula Attaway.
A luncheon will be served for family and friends from 12 to 2 p.m., Thursday, April 11, 2013, at Rising Sun Church of Christ, 6390 NE Rising Sun Drive in Pleasant Hill.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family in care of Phyllis.

Marsha-Loosing a parent somehow makes you feel just a little more lost and alone.Somehow, though, the peace that comes from the great memories helps to comfort and also gives you strenght. Always remember how much you are cared about. You are in my heart and prayers.

Susan, you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers. It's never easy to lose a family member. Were getting to that age where our parents will all be in Heaven.
