Kelly Scott Simpson, 49, passed away at his home Saturday, April 6, 2013. He was born September 8, 1963, to Irvin and Diana in Leon, Iowa.
Kelly earned a degree in Graphic Design from DMACC, and was currently working for PharmTech in Des Moines. He enjoyed spending time with his children and his whole family.
Kelly will be remembered as a wonderful father, brother, son, uncle, and friend.
Kelly is survived by his children, Joseph, Michael, and Rachel Simpson, all of Winterset; sisters, Kathryn (Ronald) Cromer of Chariton and Jodi (Ricky Smith) Moore of Des Moines; and a host of other family and beloved friends.
Memorial services will be held 2:30 p.m., Thursday, April 11, 2013, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street. Family will greet friends from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home.

Goodness gracious has it been different since you've been gone. Not exactly a year but it's coming up. I want to rephrase what I said a year ago. I CAN wait to see you. No offense. I miss you more and more everyday. It gets hard sometimes but I know you're watching over me. We're singing this song in Choir, dad, and it really made me think of you. I almost cried when we sang it. There's a verse, "Some day we'll be together again..." I almost lost it. I really don't know why God needed you so urgently, but clearly he needed an amazing angel and he needed it fast! It really bothers me when my friends complain about their dads. Once a friend complained about their dad and said, "You know what? Be grateful!" I wanted to say 'They can be gone in a blink and leave to wait a very very long time to see them again! They won't ALWAYS be here on Earth. You never when they need to go home. Shut up.' I really wish you were here. My heart hurts so much...

Kelly will be missed dearly. Even though the years had took us different places I always had you in my heart. I have to remember the happy times we had growing up in the old neighborhood, to keep the sad thoughts away. R.I.P. my friend.

Uncle Kelly you will be loved and missed very much. When someone needed you you were there. I loved when you tried to fix something you had these random outburst and you always said yelling at something always got the job done. We love you forever and always.

I'm so speechless!! This is like a Ton Of Bricks Hitting me in the head!! Nobody will ever really know why God does what he does and when he decides to do it. But My Friend, you & I go way back to when we were kids in the old hood before you moved to Ankeny. Friendships like this never die and neither do the Memories. I'm gonna Miss You My Friend. My Family will as well. We just can't believe you're gone. Our Hearts go out to your Family and I'm Especially broken up about Mom as well Brother. May God Give Peace and Comfort the Family through this time. R.I.P Bro, I'll see you in Heaven with Mom one Day. When you see My Folks, give them a Big Hug for me. Gonna Miss Ya Man. :-)

were still in shock just cant believe your gone, old friends we were thats for sure, ever time you got a chance you would stop by and see us and it was always a pleasant surprize, we are sure gonna miss you, our hearts are broken for your family, GOD BLESS THEM ALL, R.I.P. my friend till we meet in heaven one day!

It's often hard to understand why a talented young man would be called home so unexpectedly. We don't have all the answers available to us now, so I pray your family will find peace in knowing you are okay and they will carry a part of you forever in their hearts.
