Arleta Svaldi

Arleta Ruth (Richter) Svaldi, 90, died Thursday, April 4, 2013, at Karen Acres Health Care Center in Urbandale. She was born June 28, 1922, in Dundee Iowa, to Emma and Ernest Richter.

Arleta lived her adult life in Manchester, Iowa, with her husband, Fred. After Fred’s passing in 2006, she continued to take care of the family home, taking great pride in being a homemaker. In 2011, she moved to Des Moines to be closer to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were her greatest joy in life.

She is survived by her children, Steve (Venita) Svaldi of Des Moines and Sheryl (John) Douglas of Grand Junction, CO; grandchildren, Lindsey (Gabe) Kauffman of Des Moines and Jared (Diana) Svaldi of Lafayette, IN; great-grandson, Van Kauffman; and great-grandchild, Baby Kauffman on the way.

Per her request, cremation has occurred, and a private family inurnment will be held at a later date.
