Janiece "Dee" Lair

April 04, 2013

Service Details

On Thursday, April 4, 2013, Janiece “Dee” Lair was called to heaven where she has been reunited with her husband, Jack, of 43 years. Jack passed away on May 26, 2012. Dee was born in Des Moines, Iowa on May 11, 1944 to Clayton and Ethel Schuster.

Dee had an inquisitive, childlike spirit. She loved trying new things. Dee loved to bowl and looked forward to her bowling trips every year. Dee made no apologies about her love-hate relationship with slot machines. Dee spent many evenings and weekends playing cards with friends and family…...and she absolutely hated to lose.

Everyone knows that Dee loved to laugh, even if it was at her own expense. Everyone knows that Dee loved to bake and to cook. Whether making a full Thanksgiving Feast with ten different kinds of homemade pie, or preparing homemade Mexican or Chinese food, cooking was Dee’s passion. Dee was definitely the Queen of the Kitchen.

Dee’s family was her everything.

Dee leaves behind her daughter, Jacquie (Mike) Powell; her son, Jimmy (Jill) Lampman; her step-sons, Jim (Angie) Lair and John (Lisa) Hedman; two sisters, Elaine (Rich) Hughes and Ruth Downey; eleven grand-children; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved very much.

Memorial services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Family will greet friends an hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Dee’s family.
