Service Details
Betty Chandler, 74, died peacefully Sunday, March 31, 2013, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center. Her funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 5, 2013, at Altoona United Methodist Church, followed by burial at Powers-Warren Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:30 to 7:30 p.m., Thursday, April 4, also at the church.
Betty was born November 20, 1938, to Ruth and Carl Moll in Iowa City, Iowa. She lived in Altoona for over 45 years. She enjoyed everything about the Iowa State Fair, including volunteering, and being a part of the Blue Ribbon Foundation. She loved volunteering her time to many different causes, and traveling with her brother to see state capitals and NASCAR races.
Betty is survived by her children: Lori (Tim) Frank, Vicki (Nic) Shearer, Juli (Rick) Theilen, and Traci Chandler; ten grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and her siblings, Carl Moll, Laura Speicker, and Mary Thomas. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Sherman, and her son, Alex.

My heart goes out to the Chandler family. Betty was truly a special lady, and will be missed by many. I am blessed to have gotten to see her a few weeks ago.
