Virginia R. Pressley passed away Saturday, March 23, 2013, surrounded by her loving family.
Virginia was born July 18, 1928, in Des Moines, to Rose and Charles Cross. She worked for 25 years at Knox Café as a waitress. Virginia loved being with her family. She was an avid fan of the Chicago and Iowa Cubs.
Virginia is survived by her children, Rosie Bly, Dennis Pressley, and Randy Pressley, seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Clarence Bly and Bennie; her brothers, Fletcher, Philip, Edgar, Tom, Chuck, David, and Richard; and her sisters, Gladys Lowe, Lois Naples, Ruby Calkins, and Rosemarie Rounds.
A graveside service will be held at 12 noon, Tuesday, March 26, 2013, at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Following the graveside service, a reception will be held at Hamilton's near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, Des Moines.
Memorial Contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society or the Susan B. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

Thank you Aunt Virginia, for being so thoughtful and calling my mom, after your brother passed away. He would have been so proud of you and so thankful. He always spoke with love of his big family. It is so sad to have lost all of you but all the Cross' raised loving children and you will be missed.

To my cousins Rosie, Dennis & Randy: may you find peace in knowing how much aunt Virginia meant to me. She never failed to seek me out at family reunions to see how I'm doing and catch up. I remember one family reunion she took me aside to let me know she too had anxiety issues as I had & she let me know if I needed someone to talk to about it I could always call her. That meant a lot to me as I was going through a hard time after my dad's death. I will never forget her reaching out to me like that. She also always let my mom know when it was time for the showcase for The Price Is Right as my mom's favorite soap opera was on afterwards. My mom got a kick out of that and enjoyed their daily talks. I will miss her dearly as she had the Cross attitude which I dearly love. Rest assured we all loved aunt Virginia for keeping us informed at what's happening in this large family which I'm sure was a big job. I loved her dearly. May she rest in peace and have the best seats for the Cub's games. love always to each of you cousins.
