Darrell Cordes Kennedy, 92, passed away Thursday, March 21, 2013, at Calvin Community Care Center in Des Moines.
Darrell was born December 1, 1920, to Glen Hazen Kennedy and Helen Vira Cordes Kennedy in Kamrar, Iowa.
Darrell grew up in Webster City, Iowa, and following high school graduation, served three tours of duty in the Army during WWII and the Korean conflict. He married Flora E. Kramer, from Parkersburg, Iowa, on February 9, 1945.
He and Flo had three children, Daira Ballard (Bruce), Karen Ann Scallon (Tom), and Ric Kennedy (Lisa Solinger). Surviving also are seven grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, his wife, Flora, two sisters, and three brothers.
Darrell and Flo were 50-year residents of Ackley, Iowa. In recent years, he has lived at Calvin Community in Des Moines.
According to Darrell’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held in Ackley at a later date.

Our sympathy to your family at the loss of such a good man. Darrell and Flo were very special people and will be remembered fondly by those of us at Our Saviour's in Ackley. It must be comforting to know they are together at last.
