Floyd Garren

Floyd “Bob” Garren, 90, died of natural causes at the VA Hospital on Tuesday, March 19, 2013.

Bob was born September 18, 1922, in Des Moines, to Ray and Margaret (Meyers) Garren. He was a lifetime resident of Des Moines. After graduation from East High School in 1942, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps. Bob returned to Des Moines following his discharge, and held several positions before settling on an 18-year career with the City of Des Moines. He retired in 1984. Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, garage sales, and his art. He also relished spending time with his friends at the Norwoodville Senior Center and Stover Heights.

Bob is survived by his son, Errol Garren and his wife, Nancy of Laurel, MD; and his brother, James C. Garren of Des Moines.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 23, 2013, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., Friday, March 22, 2013, at Hamilton’s as well.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Norwoodville Community Center.
