Jeffrey Lee Speck passed away March 14, 2013, to go home with the Lord.
Jeffrey was born December 30, 1967, to Lee and Lorrie Speck. He was the poster boy for Easter Seals in 1971. Jeffrey enjoyed playing wheelchair basketball at the Salvation Army and softball for South Des Moines Little League. He participated in tennis tournaments in Missouri and pool tournaments in Minnesota. He graduated from North High in 1986, and from DMACC in 1992 with a degree in Hotel & Restaurant Management.
Jeffrey is survived by his mother, Lorrie Speck; brother, John (Bonnie) Speck of Bondurant; aunts, Carole (Robert) Connors and Sharon Raitt of Des Moines; niece, Jenny Lynn; nephew, A.J.; great-nephew, Tristen; and great-nieces, Kenzie and Kayden. He was preceded in death by his father, Lee E. Speck; grandmother, Lola Acela; cousin, Sheri L. Lincoln; and his aunt Paddy Jacobs.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m., Thursday, March 28, 2013, at Bondurant Federated Church, 103 2nd Street SW in Bondurant.

Lorrie and John,
I was shocked and saddened to read about Jeff's passing. I have so many great memories of him and his laughter as he grew up and even when he was older driving into Four Mile. He was a special and inspiring young man and I know you miss him. God Bless you and help you use your memories of Jeff to comfort you until you see him again, along with Grandma, Paddy, and Sheri.

Jeff was a wonderful person and I am so thankful to have been his friend. Although I am incredibly sad, my memories of our time spent together will always make me smile and laugh.

I am so sorry for your loss. Jeff was a very special person. We met at DMACC. Jeff and I became good friends and spent hours on the phone laughing and talking. I will cherish my memories and will miss him.

Scott aka the catcher and his little sister Tracy were shocked and sadden to hear about Jeff's passing. We both have many fond memories of the Pioneer League days and cracking jokes with both Lorrie and Jeff.

Lorrie and family,
I am so sorry to hear about Jeff. He was a wonderful human being and I will cherish the memories I have forever and know he is in heaven with Sheri, Paddy and Grandma and they are all greeting him with open arms and he is just fine.....Love you Lorrie.

So sorry for your loss. I went to Jr High at Hoyt with Jeff and knew him as a genuinely nice guy. Although I had not seen him for years when our paths did cross he was always sure to say hi and a friendly conversation followed. I had just recently been think of Jeff and wondered what he was up to. Was very sorry to hear the news but will always have fond memories.
