Albert Sears died on March 9, 2013, at the Madrid Home. Albert was born March 17, 1931, to Orville and Maude (Davis) Sears in Logan, Iowa.
Albert served in the Marines for three years during the Korean Conflict. He worked for Jensen Construction before retiring in 1997. Albert enjoyed golf and gardening. He was known for his strong work ethic.
Albert is survived by his wife, Lorella “Lou”; son Kelly (Charlotte) Sears of Elkhart, Iowa; four grandchildren; and brother George (Beverly) Sears of Logan, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Bill and Merle; and sisters, Margaret, Donna, and Camella.
Services will be held 10 a.m., Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue. Burial to follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Logan, Iowa.
Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

I was blessed to sit with your parents at one of my first company functions at The Rasmussen Group and enjoyed listening to your dad's stories. I know since then there have been many struggling times but I know your faith has guided you through them. Focus on all of the good times - as there are an abundance of those. My thoughts and prayers are with you, Charlotte, your mom, and your kids. As much as you don't want your loved ones to suffer you don't want to let them go either. God be with all of you.

Dear Lou, Kelly, and family. Sheryn and I were very sad with the news today of Albert's passing. Obviously, this is a time when memories connect us to the past. I still have vivid childhood memories of first getting to know Albert and you, Lou, when we arrived at Grandma Sears's house in Logan after a long, hot drive from Denver on one of our summer trips to Iowa. All of the Sears brothers and sisters were talking and laughing very loudly while taking turns at the crank of an old-fashioned ice cream maker. Homemade ice cream never took very long to make with Grandmas crew of strong, farm-bred brothers and sisters on hand to turn the crank, and ice cream never tasted better. On this particular day, Albert and Lou were late to arrive and Albert had just finished some part of his stint in the Marines. Everyone kept talking about "Brew" and "Lou and this was my first memory of connecting the two of you together after I finally figured out that everyone was fondly referring to Albert as Brew (for reasons I didnt understand) and Lou was his fiancé. Kelly, it was many years later at my Mom and Dads 50th anniversary in Denver that I remember having my first conversation with you as a young adult and I remember being impressed with the interesting and thoughtful things you had to say about life and the many relatives who traveled to this gathering. Then it was few years later at the funeral for my Dad, Bill Sears, that Albert talked to me at length about how Dads overseas service in WWII and his capture as a POW had profoundly moved him. Learning of this special bond that had formed between the oldest and youngest of the many Sears siblings gave special meaning to that day for me. We want to add these memories to the many special memories you will share today and we convey our deepest sympathies.

Lou, Thank you so much for your call, informing us of Al's passing. We always enjoyed Al's visits when he was out for a walk, or when he would come over and chat while one of us was out in the yard. He lived a full life and I don't think he knew a stranger, no matter what the generation gap. Our prayers are extended to you and your family.

Dear Lou, Kelly and family, we wish to forward our deepest sympathies for the loss of Al, "Brew." While we have not been together for many years I will always remember how much Al meant to my dad, Bill, and the many great times we spent with the Sears family in Iowa. We really appreciated the conversation with Kelly today to let us know about his father. We will inform Duane and Sheryn, who, I know, will be very sorry to hear about Albert.
