Wynette "Winnie" Wright

Wynette “Winnie” Erickson Wright, 53, joined her Lord and Savior, Wednesday, March 6, 2013, in Omaha, Nebraska. She was born June 28, 1959, in Des Moines, daughter of Willard and Alice Erickson.

Winnie graduated from East High School in 1977 and went to work for Principal Financial Group for 19 years. In 1996, she married the love of her life, Mike Wright, and was blessed with two boys, Daniel and Joseph. Mike and Winnie spent 5 years in Chicago then moved to Omaha in 2002 where Winnie worked as a teacher’s assistant in the Omaha School District. She enjoyed singing gospel and Christian music, reading, working with children, helping with PTA, and was a life long Dallas Cowboys fan. Her passions were her husband, family and serving God.

Winnie will be missed by her loving husband, Mike; two sons, Daniel and Joseph; her parents, Willard and Alice; mother-in-law Helen Hooper; siblings, Rick (Joan) Erickson, David (Bev) Erickson, Kathy Bohlen, Carl (Terri) Erickson, Larry (Annette) Graves, Joyce Brewton and Bert Hooper; nieces and nephews; other extended family and many loving friends.

Winnie was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Carl and Winnie Erickson; maternal grandparents, Fred and Nettie Mincks.

A celebration of life service will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at Berean Assembly of God, 5299 E. University Ave., Pleasant Hill, with burial at Avon Cemetery. Friends may visit with family from 5 to 8 pm, Tuesday, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street in Des Moines.
