James “Jimmy” Ives was born April 16, 1962, and passed away at his home Monday, March 4, 2013, at the age of 50 due to complications of diabetes. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and working on cars. Jimmie worked at various places as a mechanic and also worked as a pool tech, opening and closing various pools throughout the Des Moines area.
Jimmy is survived by his children, Sarah (Kris) Gebert and Donald John; grandchildren, Dylan Gebert, Donald John, Jr., and Tatsyana Mesta; mother, Anita Speck; brothers, Ronald (Dianna) Ives, Robert (Saundra) Ritter, Donald (Angie) Ritter, and Earl Ives; sisters, Carolyn (Chester) Fallin and Diana (Pat) Dudney; and many nieces, nephews, and beloved friends. He was preceded in death by his father, James Ives.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, March 8, 2013, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street. Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home.

jimmy will be missed by many ,in all our hearts he will stay . (((hugs)))) jimmy was a great person , and still is , he moved to his last home :) rip.

I was 5 months old when my dad walked into my life. He said it was love at first sight when he saw me. I have had the pleasure of having him for a dad for 30 years. Daddy I will miss you. Dylan will miss you. You were a great "PaPa" to him. I will talk about you all the time. I love you and I will see you on the other side.

Jimmy was a great man. Even though my mother and him never married throughout their long relationship, he was a father to me. I'm proud to call him my step-father. He was a big part of my life for so long and helped shape me into the person I am today. Many people, myself included, will miss him greatly.

Jimmy was my bestfriend from child hood. I will miss him dearly. It seemed that we could alway pick up right where we left off no matter how many years pass. He was a great guy, and know that when my time come he will be right there to meet me behind Jesus. May God Bless all the ones he left be hind to morn our loss.
