Barbara Rees

Barbara M. Rees, 88 passed away Sunday, March 3, 2013, at Sunny View Care Center in Ankeny.

Barbara was born July 27, 1924, in Des Moines, to Charles and Esther (Busby) Riley. She was a lifelong resident of the Des Moines area. Barbara attended Capitol City Commercial College and worked at the Des Moines Ordinance Plant during WWII. She retired from Saydel School where she worked in the lunchroom for many years. Barbara was a member of Sunshine Open Bible Church.

Barbara is survived by her husband of 67 years, Arthur Rees; children, Byron (Linda) Rees, Linda (Russ) Seger, Rebecca Rees, Phillip (Stephenie) Rees, Betty Lou Rees, and Curtis Rees; 16 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, two half-brothers, and a half-sister.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, March 7, 2013, at Sunshine Open Bible Church, 2130 Easton Blvd., followed by burial at the Altoona Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9 to 10:30 a.m., Thursday, prior to the service at the church.
