Arnie “JR” Van Haaften, 58, was born August 2, 1954, the son of Dorothy and Arnold Van Haaften, Sr. He passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, February 26, 2013.
Arnie is survived by his sons, Adam (Ashley) Van Haaften and Grant Van Haaften; grandson, Barrett Van Haaften; father, Arnold (Kathy) Van Haaften, Sr.; sister, Carolyn (Denny) Keller; half-brother, Sean Van Haaften; other loving relatives; many special friends; and of course his dogs, Harley and Maggie. He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy.
The family will greet friends from 5 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th Street SW. Graveside services will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at Altoona Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will follow at the the Za Ga Zig Shrine, 1100 Shriners Parkway in Altoona, from 12 to 3 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Animal Rescue League.

Thoughts and prayers for the family of JR. He was an amazing and caring person who was loved my many. Lots of great memories with JR which will be with us always. He will always be in our hearts.

I am truley sorry to hear about the loss of your son, I only know your wife Kathy thru art classes. Please know all share your grief at this time. Remembering his life & good times, and he is now at peace. May you and Kathy feel the love that is surrounding you now.
