Phyllis Kae Yaw was born in Centerville, Iowa, on March 15, 1936, to John and Marie Chrisman of Allerton, Iowa, where she spent her youth on the farm. She graduated from Allerton High School in 1954. Phyllis passed away Monday, February 25, 2013, at Taylor House Hospice.

Phyllis is survived by her daughters, Debbie (Bob) Ragan, Vicky (Vern) Willey, Jan (Cliff) Alexander, and Roxanne Yaw; son, Doug Snodgrass; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Dian Richardson; and her loving companion, Ed Lynam. She was preceded in death by her infant sister, Anne; parents; the father of her children, Wayne Snodgrass; and her husband, Art Yaw.

She always treasured her family and friends and enjoyed spending time with them. Phyllis loved the outdoors, helping her dad on the farm, horse back riding, bird watching, camping, hiking, traveling, and tennis. She also enjoyed music, movies, and was an avid reader. Until her health failed, she loved dancing.

She and Ed spent their winters in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas, where they enjoyed spending time with their friends and participating in the activities offered at their mobile home park.

Phyllis was a member of Altoona United Methodist Church, where she enjoyed helping with many activities over the years.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, March 1, 2013, at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th Street SW in Altoona. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, the Altoona United Methodist Church, 602 5th Ave. SW in Altoona. Burial will be held at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, at Allerton Cemetery in Allerton, Iowa.
