Yvonne Boucher

Service Details

Yvonne “Bonnie” Boucher, the youngest of nine, was born July 28, 1935, to Horace and Nona Dunton at Bangor General Hospital in Maine. She passed away Saturday, February 23, 2013, at her home in Des Moines.

Bonnie met Earl Boucher at the Dow Air Force Base roller skating rink in 1951, where they awed the patrons with their skating abilities. From skating to love, they were united in marriage in 1951, and blessed with four children, James, Robert, Allen, and David. Bonnie enjoyed being around people, as evidenced by the holiday pool parties she and Earl hosted. She spent a majority of her life as an Air Force wife.

Life after the Air Force included bowling and playing golf, primarily with her sister, Phyllis. Although her later years were marred by occasional illness, that did not deter her from looking after Earl and the boys, and throwing her pool parties. Bonnie was an outgoing person who made and kept friends easily. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Bonnie is survived by her husband, Earl; sons, Robert (Denise), Allen (Cindy), and David; grandchildren, Mandie Heggen, Jessica Heggen, Christopher Boucher, Michael Boucher, Scott Boucher, and Jeffrey Boucher; great-grandchildren, Troy, Allison, Elizabeth, Ryan, Lourdes, Dylan, Daylan, Dominic, and Blake; sisters, Phyllis (Jim) and Joanne; special nephew, Bill; as well as many other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, James; granddaughter, Marie; and six siblings.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, March 1, 2013, at Grandview Lutheran Church, 2930 E. 13th Street in Des Moines, with burial following at Pine Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, also at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Grandview Lutheran Church in loving memory of Bonnie.
