Lois Shuff

Lois Marie Shuff, 93, passed away on Wednesday, February 20, 2013, at Iowa Lutheran Hospital.

On Saturday, March 2, 2013, a visitation with family and friends will begin at 12 p.m., with a memorial service at 1 p.m., followed by a luncheon at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines.

Lois was born on September 16, 1919, in Bothineau, North Dakota. After graduation from high school, she entered into the Women’s Army Corps during WWII. Lois worked for Couples Hesse Envelope Company for many years, and retired from Homesteaders Life Insurance Company at age 65.

She loved being with her family, working the daily crossword puzzles in the paper, sewing, shopping, and an occasional trip to the casino.

She is survived by her children, Donnie (Linda), Joyce Shepard, and Jody Weese (Rocky); four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and sister, Fern Boe in Idaho. Lois was preceded in death by her parents, Florence (Hobbs) and John Gast; brothers, Gerald, Gale and John Gast; and grandson, Mike Weese.
