Betty Mae Weddell, 90, a lifelong resident of Des Moines, died February 19, in Citrus Heights, California, a victim of Alzheimer’s Disease. She was born in Des Moines on August 21, 1922, to Edward and Florence (Roth) Hutchinson, deceased.
She was a graduate of East High School and enjoyed attending alumnae events. Betty was an excellent seamstress, and made the clothing that marked the important events in her daughters’ and granddaughters’ lives. She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-six years, Bob Weddell, and is survived by her daughters, Sharon Weddell, of Citrus Heights, California, Joan Weddell of Overland Park, Kansas, and Janelle Hanneman, of Sioux City, Iowa, nine grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, February 28, 2013, at All Saints Catholic Church, 650 NE 52nd Avenue, followed by burial at Glendale Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 – 6 p.m., Wednesday, February 27, 2013, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue.

Dear Joan,
My mother recently sent me the sad news that your mother has passed away. I am very sorry. Mrs. Weddell always welcomed me and treated me with respect. I have so many fond memories of time spent in your childhood home. Hopefully, all of your wonderful memories will help sustain you during this most difficult time.

Our families shared many wonderful weeks together in Branson Missouri and I will always cherish the memories of Bob & Betty and my parents having so much fun together. They are all in heaven together now and I can just picture them sitting around and laughing about those days. We were so blessed to have them all as long as we did. God bless the family in this sad time. May you find comfort in your memories and knowing that we all share your loss.

I met your mother and dad at the Nevada Craft Shows. I have 15 beautiful dolls, including the Shea doll. I absolutely loved your mom and dad and they will continue to be in my thoughts and prayers.
