Lois Anne Graeve, 72, passed away Saturday, February 16, 2013, in McAllen, Texas. The family will greet friends from 5 to 8 p.m., Thursday, March 7, 2013, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street.
Lois was born June 10, 1940, in Des Moines, to Raymond and Betty Webb, and was a lifelong resident. She owned Granny’s Sweet Freeze on Des Moines’ eastside for 30 years. Lois was an avid golfer and she and her husband Jerry were three time Senior State Golf Champions. She dedicated her life to her husband, children, grandchildren, and her ice cream shop.
Lois is survived by her loving husband Jerry; children, Terri (Bruce) Barnes, J.D. (Cathy) Graeve, and Jeff (Jacki) Graeve; daughter-in-law, Dawna Graeve; brother, Dale Webb; sister, Carol VanderLinden; 16 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a host of extended loving relatives and dear friends.
Waiting in heaven to greet her were her son, Brett Graeve; her parents; and her brothers, Ray and Lenny Webb.
Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

OUR KIDS ALL GREW UP ON GRANNYS ICE CREAM, AND NOW MY GRANDKIDS ALL ENJOY THERE STOPS AT GRANNYS. WE WILL ALL MISS LOIS AND WILL THINK OF HER EACH TIME WE GO THERE THIS SUMMER FOR ICE CREAM.. R-I-P LOIS.

Sad to hear of Lois's passing. She was a wonderful, generous person. Lois and my mother (Karan) were both Teacher Associates at Hoyt Middle school. My mom also worked for Lois at Granny's back in the early 80's. Our condolences to you and your family.

I knew Lois when she was at Hoyt Jr High. A really sweet person. I will miss her smiling face at Granny's and wish her entire family my heartfelt sympathy and continued prayers. May God bless you all.

I met Lois in 1975 when I went to work for HyVee. I worked in the produce department at that time and Lois would come in regularly to buy a 40lb box of bannannas for the ice cream shop. We became good friends almost overnight.A few years later I started making some poor choices in my life.No matter how far down I got, Lois always treated me as if I was still a good person.A couple of years ago we both lost a son. She helped me make it through that.I can't express how much I will miss her.

Remembering the entire Graeve family in my thoughts and prayers. I have many great memories of the days I worked with Lois, Jerry, Terri at Granny's. I remember when Aunt Lois used to make yummy cakes too. She did so many great things in her life. Lois will be missed greatly.

JD & Cathy, so sorry for your loss, you are in our thoughts and prayers. After recently losing my mother I know how hard it can be. She will be kept alive in your memories, always cherish them. I was lucky enough to know Lois through my work, she would come to get golf balls for golf tournaments in trade of bringing me a malt. I always looked forward to those Granny's malts. For such a little lady, Lois had a huge presence: organizing, planning, etc. and much of it for her beloved family. As friends, she will remain in our day to day thoughts and will truly be missed.
