Clyde W. Dare

Clyde W. Dare, 78, passed away Sunday, February 17, 2013, at his home.

Clyde was born October 16, 1934. He resided in Des Moines all of his life, living at the same residence across from the Water Trough, where he had many treasured memories. Clyde worked for St. Joseph’s Academy and Dowling Catholic School for many years. He was inducted into the Men’s Softball Hall of Fame, and was known for his pitching career. Clyde loved to dance, and was considered to be one of Des Moines’ best.

Clyde was preceded in death by his wife, Diane Elizabeth (Small) Dare. He leaves behind his daughter and primary caregiver for the past six years, Sherrie Brown; two sons, Randy (Diane) Dare and Lance (Kathy) Dare; 13 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, February 23, 2013, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service Saturday, at the funeral home. A private family ceremony will take place at Laurel Hill Cemetery at a later date.
