Thomas Everett Schooley

Thomas Everett Schooley, 72, passed away at his home Saturday, February 16, 2013.

Thomas was born September 19, 1940, in Brighton, Iowa, and was raised by his grandmother, Catherine Fuller. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and a member of the Beaverdale VFW. Thomas was a self-employed businessman. He served as a deacon in the Lutheran Church for many years. Thomas enjoyed playing golf and reading.

Thomas is survived by his children, Dr. Thomas Todd Schooley, Troy (Melissa) Schooley, Christine (Paul) Brenneman, and Catherine (Dave) Smith; former daughter-in-law, Keely Kruse; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and one on the way; former spouse, Janet Schooley; and a host of other extended relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Vonnie; sisters, Janice Blades and Barbara Sample; father, Ray Schooley; aunt, Clara Alford; grandparents, Ralph and Catherine Fuller; and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, February 20, 2013, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street. Burial will be at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery.
