Phyllis Marie Phillips

Phyllis M. (Adams) Phillips, 65, died Monday, February 11, 2013 at Taylor House Hospice. Funeral services will be 12 p.m. Thursday, February 14, 2013 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street, with burial following at Elm Grove Cemetery. A visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Phyllis was born January 13, 1948 in Indianola to Gladys and Albert Rooney, Sr. She was a beautician for many years and worked at various places in Des Moines. Her greatest joy came from her family. When her children or grandchildren walked into the room, her face would light up with delight.

Phyllis is survived by her husband, Rod Phillips; sons, Kevin (Cathy) Adams, Sohn (Gabe) Adams, Robert (Tina) Adams, Danny (Cindy) Adams, Adam (Kristin) Adams; twenty grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; brothers, Robert (Sande) Rooney, Ronald (Judy) Rooney, Alan (Gayla) Rooney; step-children, Kathryn Braennen and Ben (Renee) Phillips; brother-in-law, Verle Friesner; father of her children, Dan Adams; and a host of other family and beloved friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Albert Rooney, Jr.; and sister, Patricia Friesner.
