Richard Goode, 87, died Thursday, February 7, 2013, at the Carlisle Care Center. No services are planned at this time.
Richard is survived by his wife, Marilynn; son, Terry (Cheryl); daughter, Sherry (Derek) Murtle; and grandchildren, John Goode, Jordan Goode, Kellie Murtle, and Katilyn Murtle.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army or the Animal Rescue League of Iowa.

Dear Marilynn and Family
I just talked to Susie and she let me know of Dick's death.My husband, Roger, and I are out of town frequently and can't keep up on local news. We want you to know we are thinking of your family and praying that God will bring you comfort in this difficult time. I would welcome the opportunity to talk with you but am not sure how to contact your family. I may have a couple of pictures of Dick you would be interested in.Sherry, that is a nice tribute to your dad. I remember his infectious laugh, his pipe-and the dinners together at Ruby and Lees.-that was pre Sherry and Terry. We send our best to you and hope to be in touch. I remember I would flicker the front porch light to wish you a safe trip when you left in your semi truck, and to welcome you home at the end of the week. Then as soon as your truck was parked, I would race as fast as I could to kiss your cheek, and tell you I loved and missed you. You loved the open road and the opportunity to talk to others. You taught me to love animals with all my heart. You would have confidence in me when I would lack it in myself. You were always ready with a smile, and ready to hear about my week. You enjoyed long walks on trails, enjoying westerns or action movies on T.V. and talking about your dreams. Kellie is proud you both share playing the trumpet, and will have you in her heart when she plays her trumpet. I am glad I was with you by your side, and could give you comfort here on earth. I know the light welcoming you to heaven and home was greater than the porch light I flickered. I know you are surrounded by loved ones, Grandma and Grandpa Goode and Uncle Bob Welcome home dad I love you very much! I will cherish my memories until we meet again.
